Bike to Work...
Bicycle riding is a liberating, healthy, inexpensive, and enjoyable way to travel. Cycling is ranked among the
top three exercises used for improving cardiovascular fitness. Compared to the automobile, bicycling provides
many benefits to the traveling public by reducing traffic congestion, reducing air pollution and placing fewer
demands on local roads and highways. Compared to regular lane miles, bike facilities are less expensive to
construct and maintain. Cycling is inexpensive when compared to the costs of maintaining, fueling, and
insuring an automobile. Research has shown that the average cyclist spends only a fraction of what an
automobile driver spends in a year ($750 vs. $5,000 annually).
