Virginia Railway Express

The Virginia Railway Express (VRE) provides commuter rail service from the Northern Virginia suburbs to Alexandria, Crystal City and downtown Washington. Offers daily commuter train service between Fredericksburg and Manassas to Union Station daily.

Fare Information

VRE seeks to make its tranportation easy for all its passengers. VRE is equipped with wheelchair lifts, accessible parking, access ramps, audio/visuals public address system, talking ticket vending machines, TTY phones, Braille signage and courteous, helpful personnel.

Wheelchair Access
All VRE stations are wheelchair accessible with ramps that lead to the platforms and motorized lifts on each train. Passengers needing to use the lift should move o the North (Washington) end of the platform to board. In addition, special seats are prioritized for passengers with disabilities.

Elevator Access
All VRE stations are completely accessible. The following stations do have elevators to access to the platforms:

  • Franconia/Sprinfield
  • Rippon
  • Fredericksburg
  • Union Station

TTY Phones
TTY telephones are located at the Woodbridge and Fredericksburg station. In addition our phones are staffed from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday through Friday so relay calls are always welcome.

Amtrak makes getting to your destination an enjoyable, memorable part of the trip. Aboard Amtrak, you've got the luxury of time to start enjoying your destination before you even get there. You're not only headed for fun - you're surrounded by it!

Crescent

New York City, NY - Atlanta, GA - New Orleans, LA

The Crescent takes you from the Big Apple to the Big Easy. As the vibrant cityscapes of the Northeast fade into the Blue Ridge foothills, pine forests, red clay and kudzu, sprawling farms, and sleepy towns signal your entry into the deep South. Trees drip with spanish moss as you travel through the bayou country of Louisiana. During the summer, National Park Service guides will teach you about Civil War and civil rights history as you travel from Atlanta to New Orleans. Meanwhile, our chef prepares delightful regional dishes for you. Once in New Orleans, you'll have lots to do. Take a streetcar tour from the French Quarter to Audubon or visit the never-ending party of Bourbon Street.

Regional

Boston, MA - Washington, DC - Newport News, VA

Whether you're headed for work, school or fun, Regional means a faster, more convenient, more enjoyable - and often more affordable - way to get where you're going in the Northeast.

Regional trains have been redesigned to make your on-board experience the best ever. You'll find comfortable seating with electrical outlets for your laptop computer and extra roomy storage space for your luggage. In Business class, you'll have conference tables and phones for added convenience. A bistro-style Cafe car offers appetizing food. Come aboard Regional and treat yourself to a new level of service.

Silver Service/Palmetto

New York, NY - Savannah, GA - Tampa, FL or Miami, FL

Silver Service train routes travel between the big cities of the Northeast and the tropical playgrounds of Florida, passing through historic Virginia, the pine forests of the Carolinas and the elegance of old Savannah. It's an easygoing ride, with lots of lively company and friendly service. The Palmetto offers Business Class Service with even more amenities for an additional charge.

Carolinian and Piedmont

Charlotte, NC or Raleigh, NC - New York, NY

Amtrak invites you to ride in Southern comfort all the way to New York City. Both the Piedmont and the Carolinian will take you back and forth between the Queen City of Charlotte and the state capital of Raliegh. If you're headed for Washington, DC or New York City, the Carolinian will get you there relaxed and ready for action. For a small extra fee, Carolinian's Business class will pamper you with more special features. You may be on your way to the big city, but aboard Amtrak you get friendly, down home, country hospitality!
